Detroit Red Wings forward Dylan Larkin, 29, has requested a trade. The news comes from NHL reporter Elliotte Friedman.

Friedman estimates that Larkin will be a hot name in the trade market if Detroit decides to honor the request and trade him.

– He is a top-line center in a league that is desperately searching for centers, so there will be plenty of interest. His performance in the 4 Nations and the Olympics was outstanding. It will excite potential trade partners, Friedman writes.

This season, Larkin played 74 NHL games with a total of 34+33=67 points. He was his team’s third most effective player.

Larkin’s average annual salary is $8.7 million. His contract runs for four more seasons.

Larkin played five NHL playoff games in his rookie season 2015-16. Since then, neither he nor Detroit has been seen in the spring playoffs.
