Leo Carlsson’s NHL team is clear – Anaheim Ducks made their decision
The Anaheim Ducks’ star center Leo Carlsson, who received a shocking $90 million offer sheet from the Philadelphia Flyers, has his next season’s team confirmed.
The Ducks announced on Thursday that they responded to the Flyers’ offer, meaning that Carlsson, 21, will continue his career in Anaheim. The Swedish player’s cap hit will now be the largest in the NHL, at $18 million per season.
The Swedish center, compared to Aleksander Barkov, played 70 regular-season games last season with stats of 29+38=67, making him the team’s second-highest scorer.
– We saw Leon as a franchise-level player when we drafted him in 2023. He is a big personality on and off the ice, and we see him as a top player in the league. It was always our intention to respond to any offer sheet, Ducks GM Pat Verbeek commented.
Carlsson is a modern NHL top center, whose greatest strengths may not necessarily show up in the points column. He is a 190-centimeter tall, left-shot center who combines exceptional hockey sense, puck protection, and passing ability.
Now the Ducks get to enjoy the services of the player for at least the next five seasons.
