Leijonat star Patrik Puistola’s amazing debut in the new team – top performance delivered!
Finnish forward Patrik Puistola played his first match for his new team Frölunda HC in Sweden on Thursday night, when the team faced HV71 in a preseason game. Frölunda won the match 4-1 and Puistola started his new club brilliantly, scoring an impressive 3+1.
Puistola scored Frölunda’s opening goal, the third goal, and sealed his hat trick into an empty net in the final minutes. In between, he assisted on Bosse Meijer’s game-winning goal.
In addition to Puistola, Finnish forward Max Westergård also played for Frölunda. On the other hand, Santeri Hatakka was in the lineup for HV71.
Puistola, 25, signed a two-year contract with Frölunda last spring. He also played in Sweden for the last two seasons representing Örebro HK. Last season, Puistola recorded 36 points in 50 games with 14 goals and 22 assists.
Last spring, Puistola was part of the championship-winning team with the Lions. He scored 4+1 points in ten games during the tournament.
