Kasper Björkqvist continues his career in the Liiga. The 29-year-old forward, who has represented Ilves for the past two seasons, will next strengthen Porin Ässät.

Björkqvist’s contract is initially short-term, as it runs until the end of October.

Ässät’s sports director Jarno Kultanen knows Björkqvist from his time at KooKoo.

– Kasper Björkqvist has a top-notch work ethic and the ability to throw himself into the game. He brings a lot of positive energy and daily standards to the locker room, Kultanen commented on Ässät’s website.

Björkqvist played 30 regular-season games last season in an Ilves jersey, collecting 3+9=12 points.

The forward’s resume also includes experience from North America. Björkqvist has played six NHL games in his career. Additionally, he has represented the Lions in six A-national team matches.

Björkqvist was also part of Finland’s gold medal team at the 2016 U20 World Championships.

In the Liiga, the forward has previously represented Kärpät in addition to KooKoo and Ilves.
