Olli Palola: departure papers from the Liiga club
Veteran forward Olli Palola, 38, ends his short-term contract with HPK without an extension.
The contract between Palola and HPK expired after the Tappara match played on Sunday, November 1. The team acquired the former league top scorer at the end of September to fill in for their injury-depleted offense.
Palola represented Tampereen Ilves last season, where he played 24 regular season games with a scoring record of 7+7=14. In five playoff games, the forward did not register any points.
Having had a long career, Palola has won the league’s top scorer title twice while playing for Tappara. He has also played in Sweden’s SHL and the KHL, and represented Finland in two World Championships, bringing home a silver medal from the 2014 World Championship.
Palola’s potential future team is not yet known.
