Jukurit signed a Canadian power forward – “Has played at high league levels”
Jukurit announced on Sunday their latest player acquisition. Canadian forward Jacob Hayhurst, 29, arrives in Mikkeli on a one-year contract.
The left-shooting Hayhurst has played in North American professional leagues as well as in Europe, most recently in the German DEL league with Grizzlys Wolfsburg. In Europe, he has also appeared in Sweden’s Allsvenskan with Västerås IK, where he played a significant role and was one of his team’s most effective forwards last season.
– Jacob is an experienced forward who brings competitiveness, work ethic, and versatility to the offense. He has played at high levels in North America and Europe, and we believe his experience will support our team both on the ice and in the locker room, says Jukurit’s sports director Mikko Hakkarainen on the club’s website.
Hayhurst played 41 regular season games in the recently concluded DEL season, recording 10+14=24 points. In the 2024-25 season, the forward scored 20+26=46 points in 51 games in Allsvenskan.
