Not looking good – Harsh news for the Lions!
The Lions forward Aku Räty had to leave the game early in the Euro Hockey Tour final match against Sweden on Sunday.
The injury occurred in the first period during a battle near the boards. Räty got caught between a Swedish player and the boards, after which he fell to the ice and left for the bench limping.
The forward headed to the locker room after the incident and did not return for the second period. The Finnish team has not yet provided further details on the severity of the injury.
Räty’s injury comes at a difficult time, as the World Championships start next week. The match against Sweden was the Lions’ last preparatory international match before the tournament begins.
Räty had a strong season with Kärpät in the Liiga. He scored 20 goals in the regular season and totaled 57 points.
