Insider information: Rasmus Ristolainen close to a transfer in the NHL – negotiations ongoing
The Philadelphia Flyers are still actively negotiating a possible transfer for Rasmus Ristolainen and are looking for a new team for the Finnish defenseman in the NHL.
Sportsnet’s reporter Nick Kypreos reports that the Edmonton Oilers are once again one of the teams interested in Ristolainen. The Oilers were close to making a deal at the trade deadline in March but ended up making a trade for Connor Murphy from the Chicago Blackhawks instead.
Edmonton’s interest is partly influenced by the situation of Darnell Nurse. Nurse has requested a trade to another team, and a potential deal would free up a significant portion of his $9.25 million annual salary from the Oilers’ salary cap.
Ristolainen’s contract runs through the end of the 2026-27 season, and his annual salary is $5.1 million.
The Fourth Period’s editor-in-chief David Pagnotta reports that the Flyers continue to have active discussions surrounding Ristolainen.
– The Flyers are still involved in trade discussions for Rasmus Ristolainen. Several teams are targeting him, including Ottawa, Pagnotta wrote.
According to The Fourth Period, interest also comes from the Boston Bruins, Montreal Canadiens, and Anaheim Ducks, in addition to the Senators and Oilers.
Last season, Ristolainen played 44 games and recorded 1+13=14 points.
