HS: Kiekko-Espoo in player trades – Swedish reinforcement caught!
Kiekko-Espoo has strengthened its team with a new Swedish forward. According to Helsingin Sanomat, Malmö Redhawks’ winger Linus Öberg will join Kiekko-Espoo for the next season.
Öberg, 25, has represented Malmö in the SHL for the last two seasons. In the current season, Öberg recorded 13 goals and 5 assists for a total of 18 points in 52 regular season games, as well as 2 goals and 2 assists in eight playoff games.
Öberg, who has played his entire career in his home country, has spent the last seven seasons in the SHL, representing not only Malmö but also Frölunda and Örebro. In his best season, he scored 17 goals.
Öberg is a 7th round draft pick of the San Jose Sharks from 2020. He represented Sweden in the under-20 World Championships in 2020, where the team won bronze.
