The Oulu Kärpät had a convincing start to their preseason as they defeated Vaasan Sport in a practice match on Thursday night with a score of 7-4.
Kärpät led the game in the second period by as much as 6-1. The hot first line from Oulu accounted for the first four goals of the match.
Aku Räty, who returned to Kärpät from North America, scored a hat trick in the game and recorded four points (3+1). The 24-year-old forward played the previous two seasons in the AHL and one game in the NHL with the Arizona Coyotes.
Kärpät was still missing several star players from their lineup. Oulu’s latest addition, Markus Nutivaara, did not play in the match yet.
