Here are the 20 best centers in the NHL – Finnish duo in top positions
NHL Network experts have listed the top 20 centers in the league.
At the top of the list is, as expected, Edmonton Oilers’ Connor McDavid. He racked up 138 points last season in 82 games with 48 goals and 90 assists, winning the NHL scoring title.
Completing the top three are Colorado Avalanche’s Nathan MacKinnon and San Jose Sharks’ Macklin Celebrini. MacKinnon, who won the goal-scoring title last season, scored 127 points in 80 games with 53 goals and 74 assists, while Celebrini recorded 115 points in 82 games with 45 goals and 70 assists.
Among the top 20 centers, there are also two Finnish players. Florida Panthers’ Aleksander Barkov is ranked fifth and Carolina Hurricanes’ Sebastian Aho is ranked twelfth.
Barkov did not play a single game last NHL season due to injury, but he represented Finland in the spring World Championships. Barkov captained Finland to the championship and scored 11 points in ten games with 3 goals and 8 assists.
Aho, on the other hand, won the Stanley Cup with Carolina at the end of last season. He scored 80 points in 79 regular-season games with 27 goals and 53 assists.
