On Sunday evening, French forward Alexandre Texier, who had his contract with the St. Louis Blues terminated, quickly found a new team.

Montreal Canadiens announced that they have signed a one-year contract with Texier, guaranteeing a million-dollar average salary.

The Blues terminated Texier’s two-year contract worth 4.2 million dollars, which would have ended this season.

This season, Texier played only eight games for the Blues, recording 0+1 points. The Frenchman averaged just over 10 minutes of ice time per game.

Throughout his NHL career, Texier has represented, in addition to the Blues, the Columbus Blue Jackets. He has played 240 games, scoring 40+51=91 points.

Texier is a familiar name to Finnish fans from the Liiga. He played 108 regular season games (27+36=63) and six playoff games (1+1=2) for KalPa from 2017 to 2019.
