Big TV deal announced – The league’s future is clear
The league’s broadcasting rights will remain with MTV in the coming years. The parties announced a new five-year agreement on Wednesday that extends until spring 2032.
MTV’s CEO Johannes Leppänen is naturally pleased with the new agreement.
– MTV’s League programming reached nearly 4.2 million Finns last season – the numbers speak for themselves. It is great that MTV continues to be the home of League hockey, as we have been building a modern and the most interesting sports entity in Finland together with the League for a long time. The coming years and the League’s format changes will create an excellent foundation for the growth of hockey enthusiasm even further, Leppänen commented.
The League’s CEO Mikko Pulkkinen emphasizes that the close cooperation between the League and MTV will play an especially significant role at the threshold of a new era for the country’s top ice hockey league.
– MTV has been a great partner for us. We know each other well and understand what kind of change we are heading towards in Finnish top-level hockey. This provides a strong foundation for development work in a new environment, Pulkkinen says.
The current agreement between the parties still covers the upcoming “super season” 2026-27.
