Ässät secured their key player – SHL veteran extends contract
Ässät announced on Wednesday an important piece for their team for the next season. The Porvoo club reported that they have signed a one-year extension with Swedish forward Johan Olofsson.
Olofsson, who has had a long career in the SHL, proved his worth to the Porvoo team last season. He played 58 regular season games with stats of 12+15=27 and ranked seventh in Ässät’s internal scoring list.
Sports director Jarno Kultanen emphasizes the importance of the 32-year-old Swede to the team.
– Olofsson is a very reliable and versatile player. He took responsibility in both power play and penalty kill situations and also made quite decent points.
– It’s great that we got him to continue, and I believe he will be a really important player next season as well, Kultanen commented.
Olofsson’s family has also settled well in Satakunta, making the decision to extend not difficult.
– My family and I have really enjoyed being here. Ässät has a really good team with very good and nice personalities. Additionally, the atmosphere created by Ässät’s fans at the games is something special.
Eyes are already on the upcoming season, which Olofsson believes will be exceptionally significant due to the league’s reforms.
– Next season is going to be a great and big season for everyone. It’s important to be ready from the start when the league system changes, the Swedish forward anticipates.
