Anton Levtchi became a hero – sent the SHL star team on summer vacation!
Luleå defeated Frölunda in the Swedish SHL quarter-finals on Thursday night with a score of 1-0, advancing to the semi-finals with a series win of 4-2. The decisive goal in the sixth game was scored by Luleå’s Finnish forward Anton Levtchi.
Levtchi scored the only goal of the match early in the final period on a power play. He shot directly from Oskari Laaksonen‘s pass into the back of the net. Levtchi leads the SHL playoffs scoring chart, with 6+2 points in nine games.
Luleå pulled off a tough feat in the quarter-finals, as the eliminated Frölunda was second in the regular season. However, the seventh-placed Luleå has now sent Frölunda on summer vacation.
In addition to Levtchi and Laaksonen, Finnish players in Luleå include Markus Nurmi, Heikki Liedes, Eetu Koivistoinen, and Otto Leskinen. Luleå will face the regular season champions Skellefteå in the semi-finals.
Playing for Frölunda this season were Jere Innala, Arttu Ruotsalainen, and Max Westergård.
