Yle: Kärpät stealing another Liiga team’s star!

Oulu Kärpät is, according to Yle Urheilu information, acquiring defender Kalle Loponen for their team for the upcoming season.
The 24-year-old Loponen is currently playing his fourth season with Kouvola’s KooKoo. Loponen is a product of Kärpät, having also represented JYP and HPK in the Liiga during his career.
The defender made a real breakthrough in the Liiga last season, scoring 14 goals and finishing third in the defensemen’s scoring list. Over the past two seasons, Loponen has scored the fourth most goals among defenders.
In the current season, Loponen has recorded 4+14=18 points in 42 games.
