Veteran forward Leo Komarov, 39, spoke to Iltalehti about the continuation of his career. He currently has no contract with any team for the next season.

Komarov tells IL that he is not yet ready to end his long playing career. He still has the desire to play.

– I have been training quite a lot, been on the ice, and kept myself in shape to be able to play. When it comes to the future, yes, that day will come, and then we will announce which direction we will turn, Komarov says.

Komarov mentions that there is still interest in him in the player market.

– I have always had [discussions] going on. Maybe it depends more on myself what I want, where I want to go, and what the interest is regarding different options.

Komarov also started last season without a contract until he represented Swiss team HC Davos in the Spengler Cup in December, winning the tournament championship with the club. In January, Komarov moved to Kiekko-Espoo for the remainder of the season, playing 17 regular season games with 1+6 points and four playoff games with 1+0 points.

Throughout his long career, Komarov has also played in the NHL, KHL, SHL, and for the Lions. He has won, among other things, Olympic gold, a world championship, and a KHL championship.
