TPS’s controversial forward Veli-Matti Savinainen has undergone surgery. The six-time Finnish champion and World Championship gold medalist announced this on his Instagram account.
The 40-year-old forward did not provide further details about the type of operation.
– Not quite the start to the season I had envisioned. Surgery is behind me – rehabilitation ahead. Coming back soon, Savinainen writes in his update.
Savinainen faced quite a media storm earlier this year after he refused to wear a pride-themed shirt during TPS’s themed match.
The former Lion starting his second season with TPS played 47 games last season with stats of 9+17=26.
