TPS: the top promise is starting!
One of the most promising young forwards of TPS, Olli Wahlroos, continues his career in Canada.
WHL team Edmonton Oil Kings announced on Tuesday that they have signed a player contract with 18-year-old Wahlroos. The forward, hailing from Kaarina, was drafted by the team in the second round of the 2026 CHL Draft with the 117th pick.
Edmonton Oil Kings’ CEO and GM Michael Chan says the team has high expectations for the Finnish prospect.
– We are excited to welcome Olli and his family to our team. We look forward to what he will bring to our squad. He is a two-way winger who can help both in offense and defense. His work ethic and skills will help set the right direction for our team.
Last season, Wahlroos primarily played for TPS’s U20 team, where he recorded 15 points in 24 games. In the U18 team of TPS, he played two games and collected two points.
Wahlroos was seen in the under-18 national team last year at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup. He registered four assists in five games as Finland finished fourth in the tournament. Wahlroos shared the position of Finland’s second-best scorer and was the team’s top assist provider.
