Vancouver star admits he wants a trade: “Rebuilding is not for me”
The Vancouver Canucks have made a deep dive from being a top team in the NHL to the basement in just under two years.
Now the team is blowing the winds of rebuilding, which is why key players are being shopped to other teams left and right. One of the players possibly being traded before the deadline is Jake DeBrusk, for whom this season is only his second with the team.
The 29-year-old forward openly admits he wants a trade away from a team in the midst of a rebuild.
– Rebuilding is a tough situation for any player, but at the same time, it can be a great opportunity for younger guys.
– For me, however, it’s not something I would be okay with or accept, DeBrusk stated in an interview with The Prodivence.
– It’s not for me, the forward continued.
DeBrusk is currently in just his second season of a seven-year contract. The former first-round pick, who has 13 goals and 16 assists for 29 points in 59 games, negotiated a full no-trade clause into his contract, which he is now willing to give up.
Previously representing the Boston Bruins for a long time, DeBrusk earns 5.5 million dollars per season from his contract.
