Vaasan Sport is emptying: now a new forward has left
The clearance sales of Vaasan Sport continue. This time, the central forward Johan Sundström, 33, has left the Vaasa team. He is moving to ZSC Lions in the Swiss top league on a contract for the remainder of the season.
– We are not bringing Johan in to score points, but we expect him to strengthen us and help in important situations such as penalty kills, power plays, and face-offs. Having grown in the Frölunda organization, Johan has a team-first attitude, describes Lions’ sports director Sven Leuenberger.
Sundström has played 32 games for Sport this season. In those games, the center recorded stats of 11+8=19.
Vaasan Sport announced well in advance that they would be relinquishing their current season. The Vaasa club apologized to their supporters, stating that they would be selling their players and focusing on the next season.
