Urheilucast: Tappara, Kärpät and HIFK fought over the same hockey star – choice made!
Finnish defender Oliwer Kaski is heading to Sweden’s top league SHL for the next season, reports Urheilucast. Currently, Kaski plays for Kölner Haie in Germany.
Urheilucast’s host Esko Seppänen mentioned in a recent episode that several Finnish clubs were actively pursuing Kaski. Among others, Tappara, Kärpät, and HIFK were assessing the defender’s situation and trying to lure him back to Finland.
According to Seppänen, the decision is practically already confirmed.
– The career of the big star defenseman continues in the SHL. It is as good as a done deal, Seppänen said in the broadcast.
The 28-year-old Kaski is known as an effective puck-moving defenseman and a strong power play player. In the league, he has previously represented HIFK and Pelicans.
Kaski had a breakout season with Pelicans in 2018–2019, when he scored an impressive 52 points in 59 regular-season games. After his outstanding season, Kaski moved to the AHL.
This season, Kaski has recorded 38 points with 11 goals and 27 assists in 48 games in Germany.
