Urheilucast: Pekka Jormakka close to a league contract – is this the new team?
The veteran forward Pekka Jormakka, 35, who has represented JYP for the last two seasons, may be making a return to Helsinki’s Jokerit.
Sports cast host Esko Seppänen hinted in a recent podcast episode that the experienced winger might be heading to Helsinki for the upcoming Liiga season.
– Jokerit fans should keep an eye on Pekka Jormakka. You might want to check in on what’s going on with Pekka Jormakka. You can think about how the Joker logo would fit alongside, Seppänen teases.
Last season, Jormakka recorded 11 goals and 14 assists for a total of 25 points in 51 Liiga games while wearing JYP’s jersey.
A potential transfer would mean a return to a familiar environment for the forward. Jormakka, who won a silver medal with the Lions at the World Championships, played for Jokerit for four seasons from 2015 to 2019, during which time the Helsinki club was still in the KHL.
