Urheilucast: Not just Harri Pesonen - JYP is also working on another transfer bomb!

Jyväskylä’s JYP has turned its attention to a busy transfer summer following a disappointing end to the Liiga season. The team, which had a strong start to the season, ultimately bowed out in the first round of the playoffs to Pelicans, which has increased the pressure to significantly strengthen the team for the next season.

One of the most talked-about names around JYP is Oula Palve. According to Urheilucast, JYP is targeting an experienced forward whose contract with the Swedish SHL team Djurgården ended on Wednesday.

– JYP is reportedly pursuing 34-year-old SHL forward Oula Palve. JYP’s negotiating leverage is enhanced by the fact that Palve is considering returning specifically to his hometown, Urheilucast host Esko Seppänen states in the podcast.

The 34-year-old Palve played in the 2025–2026 season in Switzerland’s NL with EHC Kloten (16 games, 1+4=5) and moved to Djurgården mid-season, where he recorded 10 points (3+7=10) in 18 games. In the previous season, Palve also played in Switzerland, representing HC Ajoie and went on loan to Genève-Servette.

Palve was among the elite in Liiga during the 2023–2024 season, when he won the scoring title with Ilves, achieving 20+44=64 points (60 games). Additionally, he has experience in the AHL and SHL.

JYP is assembling a notable team behind the scenes

Harri Pesonen is also returning to Jyväskylä. Ilta-Sanomat reported earlier this week that the 37-year-old veteran forward is set to sign a two-year contract with JYP. This would mark a return to Liiga after a 14-year hiatus.

In the last five seasons, Pesonen represented SCL Tigers in Switzerland and served as the team captain. In the recently concluded season, he scored 28 points (14+14) in 45 games.

A product of JYP, he won Finnish championships with the club in 2009 and 2012 before moving abroad.
