The catastrophic season of HIFK has largely been personified by the team’s GM Janne Pesonen.

Now a huge claim has dropped regarding Pesonen’s position at Nordis. According to Urheilucast’s Esko Seppänen, Pesonen has been suspended from the position of general manager for the time being.

– I won’t speculate on this matter any further at this point, but according to Urheilucast, Pesonen has been sidelined from the GM position of IFK for the time being. The role is currently being handled by Mika Kortelainen, Seppänen states in his podcast.

– This is the latest information from Nordis. They are trying to keep this under wraps as best as they can, but Nordis – as everyone knows – always leaks. At this point, player acquisitions and transfers are being managed by “Kölli” Kortelainen.

– I have confirmed from several sources that Pesonen is not handling his GM duties at this time, Seppänen reveals.

HIFK, which has played 17 regular season games in the Liiga, is currently in last place in the entire league.

Update on the news: According to HIFK, Pesonen’s sidelining is due to health reasons.
