The Helsinki Jokerit, making a return to the league for the “super season,” strengthens its defense with a really strong player in Finnish hockey. According to Urheilucast, the Jokerit have signed a comprehensive contract for the next season with American defenseman Matt Caiton.

Caito, 32, previously played in the league during the 2019-20 season, when the 180-centimeter defenseman represented KooKoo. Caito was awarded the league’s best defenseman at the end of the season.

– According to UC, the SHL defenseman Matt Caito, pursued by Kärpät and KooKoo, will be a man for the Jokerit going forward. The contract will only be announced once Caito has enjoyed all the benefits he deserves from his contract in Sweden, says Urheilucast’s Esko Seppänen.

Caito has represented Leksand for the last six seasons, during which the defenseman played 50 regular season games last season with stats of 4+7=11. In his previous league visit, he recorded 43 points with 8+35=43 in 59 games.

Before his time with KooKoo, Caito broke through in European leagues with the EBEL team Graz99ers.
