Urheilucast: Here is HIFK’s new sports director – “A watertight professional”
HIFK has made its decision on the next sports director, claims Urheilucast. According to the podcast host Esko Seppänen, the choice has been directed towards Janne Laukkas, who has held the same role at Pelicans for ten years.
– The massive GM search process is now complete. The choice has been directed towards Janne Laukkas. In other words, he needs to be somehow pulled out of Pelicans and dressed in an IFK jacket, Seppänen says.
Seppänen describes Laukkas as a “big upgrade” compared to the previous one. HIFK’s former sports director Janne Pesonen was fired from his position in November.
– If Laukkas’s profile were to be described in Pelicans, he is not afraid to take tight shots if he senses the momentum.
– The recruitment started with Laukkas, it ended with Laukkas. It went through Jukka Jalonen, Kimmo Kapanen and here and there.
– A waterproof professional, Seppänen summarizes his opinion about the former NHL defenseman.
The 56-year-old Laukkas started as the sports director of Pelicans in 2016.
