In the league, we may see a prominent and highly accomplished returnee next season. According to Urheilucast, goaltender Jussi Olkinuora, who has won two World Championships and an Olympic gold with the Lions, is close to returning to domestic rinks.

– Olkinuora is very close to returning to the Lahti ski jump area and the Lahti Pelicans. At this stage, it is still unknown what kind of clauses regarding foreign options are in the contract offer, but in Lahti, there is reason to start preparing hopefully for a rather notable goaltending duo, says Esko Seppänen from Urheilucast.

Olkinuora was last seen in a Pelicans jersey during the 2023–24 season, after which the veteran has been touring Europe in Swiss and German leagues.

However, the latest statistics are not impressive: the 35-year-old veteran goalie played 25 games for Dresdner Eislöwen this season with an average of 4.02 goals against and a save percentage of 87.2.

The Tappara graduate has also played in the league previously for SaiPa and JYP.

In the Lions jersey, Olkinuora was last seen in the spring 2023 World Championships.
