The return to the league lasted one game – now a new team is knocking!
At the beginning of the season, Niclas Westerholm, who played for KooKoo, is attracting interest from Swedish Östersund. According to Expressen the report, the Finnish goalkeeper, who is without a club, is one of the options for the team to strengthen its goaltending department.
Östersund is looking for a replacement for last season’s number one goalie Carl Lidö, who will miss the entire season due to a hip injury.
Westerholm, 29, signed a two-week contract with KooKoo at the end of August to cover for the team’s goalies who are ill. He played one game in the Liiga with a save percentage of 86.2.
Sweden is familiar to Westerholm from last season when he represented Södertälje in a total of 14 games. Four of these were playoff games. Additionally, he played in the Czech top league last season.
