Tarmo Reunanen returning to TPS next season played the best hockey of his career last season with the Czech top league team Karlovy Vary.

The 27-year-old defenseman scored 5+27=32 points in 50 regular season games in the Czech Republic. According to Reunanen, the current level of the Czech top league is not yet understood in Finland.

– I feel like it’s not appreciated enough. The difference from the Finnish Liiga is that there are a few more experienced players there and the big teams are quite big, Reunanen says in the Silvennoinen’s guest of honor program.

– There are players in their prime who definitely have the potential and opportunity to try out North America, but it’s not worth going for financial reasons. The level of play is indeed very high, Reunanen compares.

Reunanen, who last represented TPS in the 2017-18 season, returns to Turku on a two-year contract.
