Tough acquisition! Defender familiar from the NHL to Mikkelin Jukurit
Mikkelin Jukurit has made a significant acquisition for its roster for the upcoming season. The Mikkeli-based team has signed a one-year contract with defender Andrej Sustr, 35.
– Sustr is a large, lengthy, and calm defender who excels in his own zone, on the penalty kill, and in controlling the pace of the game. His experience in the NHL, AHL, KHL, and top European leagues brings us strength and leadership in defense. An important acquisition for us for the upcoming season, Jukurit’s sports director Mikko Hakkarainen states in the club’s press release.
In the NHL, Sustr has played eight seasons and 362 games. He has previous experience in the league from his time with Tappara.
In the recently concluded season, Sustr played in the AHL and HockeyAllsvenskan. In the AHL, he collected one assist point in 11 games. In Sweden’s second-highest league, the defensive defender recorded 5 points (1+4) in 20 games.
