Top goalkeeper and NHL team in a strange situation – a big gap in financial matters
NHL reporter Elliotte Friedman writes on the X messaging service that Columbus Blue Jackets’ number one goalie Jet Greaves is in a challenging situation with his team.
The parties are heading towards arbitration, which in itself indicates the difficulty of the situation.
The views of Columbus and Greaves differ significantly. According to Friedman, Columbus has set a starting point of 2.8 million dollars, but the goalie is demanding 7.5 million dollars.
Thus, the parties are almost five million dollars apart in their demands, which is particularly significant, even though the prices are intentionally set lower and higher in arbitration.
The matter between Columbus and Greaves will be addressed on Thursday. The Canadian goalie had a breakout season, as the 25-year-old Greaves posted a save percentage of 90.8 in 55 games.
