The Jokerit’s difficult start to the season continued with a loss, as Kiekko-Espoo was stronger with a score of 4–1.
Tomek Valtonen led the team in the Mestis league last season, but the second season – the first in the Liiga – has not started well. Jokerit fans are already calling for Valtonen’s dismissal.
When the game was 4–0 at the beginning of the third period, the team’s fans left the arena. Jokerit has only one win out of eight games.
– Espoo was strong, they were significantly better than us, Valtonen said at the press conference.
According to Valtonen, Kiekko-Espoo deserved the full points.
Next, Jokerit will face HPK in Helsinki on Tuesday. Valtonen is now under pressure to get the game working quickly.
– Of course, there are certain problems in the gameplay. We have improved the defense, but we are lacking in offensive play, Valtonen noted.
