THF: An ex-NHL player involved in a sexual assault case was offered to the Liiga – big salary expectation!
According to the Touru & Hoffrén Forever podcast, American defender Cal Foote has been offered to several Liiga teams.
The program states that Liiga teams have not yet taken up the offer due to Foote’s recent history. The player’s salary expectation for the remainder of the season is believed to be around 150,000 euros.
Foote was one of five players from the Canada U20 national team involved in a sexual assault scandal, who were accused of sexual violence. All five players were cleared of charges last July.
The 26-year-old Foote represented the notorious Slovak team HK 32 Liptovsky Mikulas last season, where he played alongside Severi Lahtinen, who has been convicted of rape.
In the NHL, Foote played a total of 145 games over four seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightning, New Jersey Devils, and Nashville Predators.
