The lock crushed Jokerit on Saturday in their home arena with a score of 7-2. Despite the impressive victory, there was also a dark turn in Lukko’s evening.

The star forward Aleksi Saarela, who started the season in the top line for the Rauma team, had to leave the game against Jokerit in the first period. Lukko’s head coach Tomi Lämsä opened up about Saarela’s situation in the press conference after the game.

– He got caught under a tackle and took the hit with his hand against the boards. There was a bit of a wrist injury and some twisting. I don’t know the details. Let’s hope the guy is back in the game as soon as possible, Lämsä says.

Saarela returned to Lukko this season, having last represented the team during their championship season in 2020-21. Last season, Saarela recorded 35 points (20+15) in 53 games with TPS.
