The son of a three-time NHL champion shines on the World Championship ice – draft stocks soaring!
The U18 World Championship for boys has completed the group stage. The tournament’s scoring leader after the preliminary round is the USA’s super prospect Wyatt Cullen, 17, who has recorded 8 points (3+5) in four games.
Cullen has played in the tournament on the USA’s top line. He has registered points in every game he has played and led his team to victory in the group.
Cullen will be drafted into the NHL this summer. Previously, he was projected to be a late first-round pick, but strong performances in the U18 World Championship have raised speculation about him possibly being a top 10 pick.
Cullen’s father is Matt Cullen, who had a long playing career in the NHL. He played over 1,600 combined regular season and playoff games and won three Stanley Cups. After his playing career, Cullen has served as a development coach for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
