The league’s star player still without a team – “It wouldn’t be a surprise if…”
In Ässät, the effective player from last season Jonne Tammela is surprisingly still without a contract as the new season approaches.
The situation of the 29-year-old forward raises questions, as he was one of the most effective players on the Porilaist team last season. Tammela scored 34 points with 16 goals and 18 assists in 39 regular season games.
The Swedish newspaper Expressen now highlights the Finn as a potential targeted reinforcement for SHL teams. As the number of quality players on the market decreases, Tammela’s stock may rise quickly.
– Tammela has been on the market for a long time without anyone picking him up. He made 34 points in 39 games with Ässät last season, and his offensive skills are surely attractive, the Swedish publication reminds.
Expressen considers it entirely possible that the Finn’s wait will end before the season starts.
– Given how thin the market is becoming, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Tammela received an offer from the SHL soon, the paper estimates.
There has also been plenty of interest in Tammela in Finland. Earlier this summer, it was reported that HPK made a significant offer to the forward, and Kärpät and KooKoo have also shown interest in his services.
Tammela has been one of the league’s dangerous offensive players for several years. In addition to Ässät, he has represented KalPa, Lukko, TPS, and SaiPa in the domestic top league.
