The league club secured a promising defender: “A lot of immeasurable potential”
HPK announces that it has signed a one-year extension with defender Viljami Jokirinne. Jokirinne’s previous contract is still valid for next season, so the new extension covers the 2027-28 season.
Jokirinne, 22, has played two seasons with HPK. Last season, he recorded 21 points (5+16) in 58 regular season games, making him the team’s second most effective defender. Additionally, Jokirinne’s plus/minus statistic of +10 was the second best in HPK. In the playoffs, Jokirinne scored 2 points (1+1) in nine games.
In his first Liiga season, Jokirinne recorded 13 points (1+12) in 39 games.
– It’s a great thing for HPK and the entire community that we reached an agreement for one more year with Viljami, and he sees Hämeenlinna as an excellent place to continue developing. Viljami is a promising young defender with a lot of untapped potential, and we believe he can make his breakthrough with HPK in the coming seasons, commented Jukka Voutilainen, responsible for player scouting at HPK, in the club’s announcement.
