The league club made a monumental acquisition
Mikkelin Jukurit has made a new acquisition for their defense from the SHL.
The Liiga club has signed a one-year contract with the impressive 197-centimeter William Worge Kreün, 25. The Swedish defenseman has represented his youth club Linköping for the past two seasons, where he collected 0+7 points in 45 games last season. Overall, the defenseman has played in the SHL for seven seasons.
– William brings quality and size to our defense. We have a solid defensive lineup for the upcoming season. William has played for a long time in the top league SHL. He is very good at defending. He moves well for his size and is exactly the kind of piece we wanted for this team, says Jukurit’s sports director Mikko Hakkarainen in the club’s announcement.
The man is a 7th round draft pick of the Buffalo Sabres from 2018.
Jukurit’s captain will continue to be Jesper Piitulainen, 33. The forward has represented Jukurit for ten seasons.
– “Pide” is a club legend and has been here for a long time. It is clear that this club is very important to him. Although last season was difficult for Jukurit, he performed excellently in the role of captain. I didn’t consider anyone else for this position, explains Jonne Virtanen, who is starting his first full season as head coach of Jukurit.
