The big announcement event of HIFK turned out to be a flop.
The press conference held by HIFK on Monday turned out to be a big flop. Many were expecting the league’s bottom team to announce new player acquisitions during the event.
During the press conference, HIFK’s sports director Janne Pesonen stated that they need a goalkeeper, a defender, and a couple of forwards. When he was asked when player acquisitions could be expected, the response was “asap of course.”
After Pesonen’s remark, it was clear that no new acquisitions would be announced on Monday. There is no information on whether players have even been acquired yet.
The event, which attracted a large media presence, lasted only 15 minutes. Ultimately, it offered nothing concrete regarding HIFK’s situation.
– I understood that the invitation stated that the media was called here regarding this situation. We have not organized such an event for player announcements before, Pesonen explained to the reporters who were disappointed with the event’s outcome.
HIFK is currently in last place in the league. The Helsinki club has only gathered 12 points in 12 matches.
