Teemu Turunen’s replacement found – World Championship point shooter close to agreement
Örebro, playing in the SHL, is finding a replacement for Teemu Turunen, who unexpectedly terminated his contract and returned to Finland for this season.
The power forward returned to the Liiga and Jokerit for family reasons, but the Swedish club has not been resting on its laurels in finding a replacement. Now, one has indeed been found.
According to Expressen, Örebro is set to sign Wojciech Stachowiak, who has been producing impressive numbers with the German national team. The 27-year-old winger has played in three World Championships for Germany, scoring 21 points with 7 goals and 14 assists in 25 games.
Last season, Stachowiak represented the Syracuse Crunch and the Grand Rapids Griffins in the AHL. The forward recorded 32 points with 13 goals and 19 assists in 47 games played in the minors.
Stachowiak had already agreed to return to the DEL team Ingolstadt, but the compensation paid by Örebro is turning the German club’s head in favor of the transfer. According to Expressen, Stachowiak’s move to the SHL is now only dependent on passing a medical examination.
