Jonne Tammela, 29, is transferring from Tappara to KalPa. The Kuopio club announced on Sunday that they have made a contract with the forward for the remainder of the season.

Tammela’s contract was supposed to last until the national team break in November, but the forward did not play any Liiga games for the Tampere team. His only appearance was in one CHL game.

Tappara announced Tammela’s departure about half an hour before the news of his contract with KalPa. The club stated in a brief announcement that the parties’ “paths diverge prematurely.”

Last season, Tammela was the top scorer for Ässät in the regular season. He scored 16 goals for the Pori team and collected a total of 34 points.

At KalPa, Tammela returns to a familiar environment. He played 74 regular season games for the club’s Liiga team from 2014 to 2016 and also represented the Kuopio club for two seasons in juniors.

The forward, born in Ylivieska, also has a Finnish championship title with Lukko from the spring of 2021 in his career.
