Tappara reacts to the injury crisis – nets two notable forwards
Tappara has reacted to its injury crisis with two notable forward signings.
The Tampere-based club announced on Sunday that it has signed Tomi Sallinen and Jonne Tammela to its offense. Both contracts are short-term and valid until November 1.
The 40-year-old Sallinen became available earlier this week after he terminated his contract with Kiekko-Espoo. Tammela, on the other hand, was one of the most effective players for Ässät last season, but the 29-year-old forward was still without a club on the brink of the new season.
Tappara’s GM Janne Vuorinen states that the difficult injury situation of the team is behind the acquisition of the duo.
– Our team’s injury situation has been somewhat unfortunate during the preseason, so we needed reinforcement in the offense. The pace of play in the Liiga and CHL this autumn is extremely tight, so having enough players is important, Vuorinen explains in Tappara’s announcement.
Sallinen brings a vast amount of experience to Tappara. The two-time World Championship silver medalist played 51 regular season games for Kiekko-Espoo last season, recording 13+14=27 points.
Tammela arrives in Tampere after an even more effective last season than Sallinen. The forward scored 34 points with 16+18 in 39 regular season games for Ässät.
