Swedish forward switches from SHL to SM-liiga
Vaasan Sport announces that the Swedish Kalle Östman is joining the team.
Östman is a 32-year-old forward who will play in Vaasa for at least next season. The contract is for one year.
Östman is capable of playing both center and wing. In Sport’s announcement, he is introduced as a hard-shooting two-way center.
– His strength is definitely that there are no resting phases in the game, but work is done continuously in both directions, head coach Lauri Mikkola commented.
Östman arrives in Vaasa from the Swedish league team Leksand. There, he recorded 6+5 points in 41 regular season games last season and 0+1 in four playoff games.
Östman has never played hockey outside of Sweden, so the move to Finland is his first abroad.
In his best season, Östman scored 30 points in SHL games in the 2022–23 season.
