Surprise move from Jokers – the fired Liiga head coach is back on the bench!
The head coach Juuso Hahl, 43, who was dismissed from Vaasan Sport earlier this season, will join the coaching team of Jokerit for the next season. Hahl’s two-year contract will commence on May 1.
Hahl served as the head coach of Sport for the 2024-25 season. The Vaasa club unexpectedly terminated Hahl this autumn and hired the experienced coach Doug Shedden, known from Jokerit, as his replacement.
In addition to Sport, Hahl has experience from Mikkelin Jukurit and the junior teams of Tappara.
– Juuso has extensive experience in various coaching roles within league organizations, and with this, he brings to our team exactly the kind of insight and experience that will make our coaching staff more comprehensive and provide additional perspectives on team building, says Jokerit’s sports director Olli-Pekka Yrjänheikki in a statement.
The return of Jokerit to the Liiga for the next season is now only pending a license. Once the license is obtained, the Helsinki club will have contracts in place with head coach Tomek Valtonen and assistant coach Waltteri Immonen valid until 2028 (with an option for the 2028-29 season).
