NHL reporter Kevin Weekes states on X that the Ottawa Senators are interested in goaltender Stuart Skinner. According to Weekes, Skinner is one of the Senators’ options in the goaltending market.

Skinner, 27, played his entire previous NHL career with the Edmonton Oilers until he was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins during the last season. In the past season, Skinner played 23 games in Edmonton with a save percentage of 89.1 and 27 regular season games in Pittsburgh with a save percentage of 88.5, as well as three playoff games with a save percentage of 87.3.

Skinner’s previous three-year contract ended last season, making him an unrestricted free agent this summer. With his previous contract, Skinner earned an average of 2.6 million dollars per season.

In 2024 and 2025, Skinner reached the Stanley Cup Finals with Edmonton but lost both times to the Florida Panthers. Skinner has played 224 regular season games and 53 playoff games in his NHL career.

Ottawa currently has only one goaltender signed for the upcoming season: Linus Ullmark.

In addition to the Skinner rumor, Weekes mentions two other rumors. The Utah Mammoth is interested in Detroit Red Wings goaltending prospect Sebastian Cossa. Additionally, New York Rangers forward Brett Berard may change scenery this summer.
