Jori Lehterä has experienced a new turn of events. According to Urheilucast Esko Seppänen, Tappara is interested in the experienced star center.

Seppänen states that head coach Kari Jalonen has given GM Janne Vuorinen clear instructions to pursue Lehterä.

– Championship head coach Kari Jalonen has officially weighed in according to Urheilucast. He has given clear instructions to Janne Vuorinen that the club must leave no stone unturned to lure Jori Lehterä to the team, Seppänen reports in the broadcast.

Lehterä recently announced that he would be retiring from playing mid-season with HIFK. According to Ilta-Sanomat, the decision was primarily due to boredom with playing.

Lehterä’s role at HIFK had also diminished, and the collaboration with head coach Olli Jokinen was not particularly fruitful.

However, Lehterä did not completely close the door on a return.

– To be honest, I can’t promise that 100% – my mind can change, as it often does, Lehterä wrote.

IS reported that Lehterä has no plans to play in the Liiga anymore this season.
