The Swedish star defender of Ilves Simon Johansson, 26, is leaving the Liiga after this season.
According to Expressen, Johansson has signed a contract with the Swiss NL club EHC Kloten for next season.
This season, Johansson has recorded strong stats of 19+21=40 in 46 games in the Liiga. He leads the defensemen’s goal and point rankings.
Johansson is playing his third season with Ilves. He first represented the club in the 2021-22 season, after which he moved to the AHL for two seasons. Johansson returned to Ilves last season. He has played a total of 143 regular season games in the Liiga (36+58=94) and 21 playoff games (3+10=13).
