American defender Matt Caito, 32, is on the radar of Liiga teams, reports Expressen.
Caito has played the last six seasons in Sweden with Leksands IF. The team was relegated from the SHL to Allsvenskan at the end of this season, and as a result, Caito is leaving the club. Expressen reports that there is interest in Caito from Liiga.
Caito is a familiar name in Liiga from the 2019-2020 season, when he represented KooKoo. At that time, he won the Liiga defensemen’s scoring race, achieving impressive stats of 8+35=43 in 59 games. He was named the league’s best defender at the end of the season.
This season, Caito scored 11 points with 4 goals and 7 assists in 50 games for Leksands. In his best SHL season, he reached 31 points.
