Source: Rikard Grönborg leaves Tappara – here is the man’s next position!
The head coach of the Swedish national ice hockey team is changing. The country’s ice hockey federation announces that head coach Sam Hallam will not continue in his role after this season.
Hallam, 46, is currently leading Tre Kronor for the fourth and final season. His next job is already known, namely the Swiss NL club Genève-Servette HC announces that they have hired Hallam as their head coach on a three-year contract covering the years 2026-2029.
Aftonbladet reports that Hallam’s successor in the Swedish national team is already known. The newspaper reports that Rikard Grönborg will return as head coach of the Swedish national team for the next season.
Grönborg, 57, is in his third season with Tappara, and his contract ends after this season. Grönborg won the Finnish championship in his first season with Tappara, and in his second season, the team’s journey ended in the quarter-finals. Currently, the team is fifth in the Liiga.
Grönborg has won two world championships (2017 & 2018) at the helm of Tre Kronor during his three coaching seasons.
